Supercomputers powered by ASUS ESC4000/FDR G2 servers claim high-ranking positions in worldwide charts for performance and energy-efficiency

Dubai, United Arab Emirates (21 July, 2013) — ASUS today announced that its ESC4000/FDR G2 servers pushed two supercomputers to positions 52 and 364 in the June 2013 TOP500 table, the definitive list of the most powerful commercially available computers. Both supercomputers also ranked 4th and 194th in the June 2013 Green500 list of the most energy-efficient supercomputers in the world.

ASUS ESC4000/FDR G2 servers form the heart of the SANAM high-performing computing (HPC) cluster, a joint supercomputing project for national-level scientific research designed by Germany’s Frankfurt Institute for Advanced Studies (FIAS) and the King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) in Saudi Arabia.

With total processing power of 532.6 TFLOPS (1 teraflop = 1012 floating point operations per second), the ASUS-powered SANAM cluster secured the number 52 spot in the prestigious TOP500 rankings. It has also been ranked 4th worldwide in the Green500 list of energy efficient supercomputers.

ASUS ESC4000/FDR G2 servers also power the supercomputing cluster at number 364 in the June 2013 TOP500 list. Located in Virginia, United States, Jefferson Lab’s Seneca Data Cluster boasts 117.2 TFLOPS total processing power and also claimed the number 194 spot in the Green500 list.
